Vendor-agnostic retail assessments

About GapSignal

Why I built GapSignal

I spent two decades inside these programs; the overrides I saw were never data problems first. I built GapSignal to help retail pricing and merchandising teams compare perspectives and investigate operational constraints. I use the assessments to help teams connect scores to evidence and choose a practical next action. I treat each score as a discussion signal, not proof of a single cause.

GapSignal helps retail pricing and merchandising leaders understand what may be getting between a live pricing program and consistent execution.

The work begins by comparing perspectives, not prescribing another tool. Structured assessments help teams surface operational constraints, connect scores to evidence, and decide what deserves attention over the next 90 days.

A GapSignal score is a discussion signal—not proof of a single cause. The goal is a clearer investigation, shared ownership, and a practical next action.

A practical, self-guided tool

Kevin Sterneckert — former Gartner VP Research covering retail pricing and promotions; roughly two decades building those programs from the inside. GapSignal is vendor-agnostic. The self-guided package is for retail leaders working with a live pricing or promotion program; it organizes evidence to investigate and does not establish a single cause of financial performance.

Do pricing and merchandising see the same program?

Start with a focused private check of data trust, then invite one colleague to compare perspectives if it will help.
